"A mathematician is a machine for turning coffee into theorems." Alfred Renyi about Paul Erdos.

I am a mathematician and my Erdos number is 2.

A framework for understanding & enjoying mathematics is a tool for the whole of one’s life.

I have been a member of the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Reading for 47 years, and have worked there for 41 years.

I am currently Professor of Mathematics and Mathematics Education there.

I was interviewed recently by Cambridge Mathematics.

In 2021 I was very honoured to have one of my articles chosen as one of 'A Magnificent Twelve’ for the Anniversary Collection from across 127 years of the Mathematical Gazette (referred to as their ‘jewel in the crown’) for the Mathematical Association’s 150th Anniversary Celebration.

I also trained and subsequently qualified as a secondary school mathematics teacher

... and I only drink Nespresso coffee.

I have had a few letters published in The Times, with the ones highlighted in orange appearing in the highly-sought-after bottom right hand corner spot, and the ones highlighted in red appearing at the top as one of the lead letters.
